How we talk
Two Questions Before Anything Ships.
Would someone reading this feel promised something? Would we be comfortable saying it to a regulator's face? If the first is yes or the second is no, it does not go up.
The Standards.
These bind our internal documents as firmly as the public ones. A number written down for ourselves has a way of ending up in front of someone else.
We Say
- Kingdom Seed Foundation, a giving circle inside a donor-advised fund.
- Gifts into the fund are tax-deductible, and you get the receipt within 48 hours.
- First We Seed. Then We Participate. Then The Fund Grants.
- The committee brings a slate. The circle blesses it together. Nobody routes their own gift.
- The fellowship fee is separate and is not tax-deductible.
- Here is what the fund statement says. Here is the period it covers.
We Never Say
- "A 501(c)(3)", about ourselves.
- "Pick your charity" or any promise that a gift will reach a particular recipient.
- Any impact figure that did not come from the fund statement.
- Any suggestion that giving returns anything to the giver, in money or in favour.
- Anything about the founder’s business. This site is the charity’s, and it speaks only as one.
One more rule. Generosity is not a lever. Nobody on this site is told that God rewards givers with money, and nobody is asked to give as a bargain. We give because we were given to.
